The original green binding has black lettering to the frontboard, the back board and to the spine. There is an original Mabel Lucie Attwell printed colour plate to the front board that features Little Red Riding Hood hiding from the Big Bad Wolf.
This book measures 7.25 x 5.00 inches (approximately). The binding is in Very Good condition with slight wear to the top and bottom of the spine. The colour plate is in Good condition being mostly complete but with a portion missing from the bottom left corner, creasing to the bottom right corner and wear to the top right corner. However, this is an extremely attractive original binding for this early Mabel Lucie Attwell book.
It is important to note that this book is complete with the misprint to page 58 which incorrectly reads page 8. This book has 6 pages of advertisements to the end of the book for The Golden Treasury Library, The Gem Library, and The Raphael House Library of Gift Books.
In addition to the Mabel Lucie Attwell colour plate pasted to the front of the book this stunning book has two other plates which includes the Frontispiece opposite the Title Page in a scene from The Six Swans, and a colour plate opposite page 48 for The Goose-Girl. This book is also profusely illustrated with the early Mabel Lucie Attwell line drawings that are one page in size and smaller.
The pages are in overall Near Fine condition being exceptionally clean but with slight discolouration to the plain front free endpaper and rear endpaper.
